GameRant Job Posting Review
GAMERANT
JOB POSTING
REVIEW
When gaming first started to explode in
1985 with the release of Super Mario Brothers and the Nintendo home console,
the expectation of the future of video games was both nigh and low for the
remaining forecasts. Established
journalism and news sources reported that video games would be a short-lived
fad and any hope for success would be nay but short of a miracle.
Alas, like all great religions of past,
gaming had something society wasn’t ready for. A spiritual feeling that awoken
the inner light of joy in millions of men, women, and children. Fast forward to
2025 and gaming is making history with epic AAA titles like Red Dead
Redemption, and becoming an official E-Sport where gamers can flex their
massive thumbs. What was once considered a nuance in entertainment is now a
multi billion dollar journey, defeating every boss along the way, not using any
continues, and always getting a flawless victory.
With the emergence of the mass popularity
of video games, Journalism has finally caught up to speed with the societal
gaming movement and now views gaming in a more positive light. With that comes
business. And business per say means money! Who doesn’t like money? GameRant
sure does! So much they have grown into one of the leading bourgeoisie of the
industry. It's no suprise young musketeers like myself are looking to get a piece of the pie. Sure their growth is a testament of how good their reviews are,
guides, and gaming related news is. But how do they fair in their “careers”
section?
Let’s take a deep dive into that. Bam!
Immediately upon looking at GameRant.com
you see that it has the basic layout of any professional gaming site. Simple,
yet eye catching. Navigation between articles seems to be easy enough with the
classic hamburger lines on the top left hand side. But when looking for where
find jobs it becomes a bit like the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time. Eventually
you come to 2 conclusions, you either are the lucky one who managed to scroll
all the way down and see the tiny print “join our team” hidden like an easter egg
on the website, or you are like me and just used a gameshark like google and
typed in the phrase, “Gamerant jobs.” And yes you didn’t capitalize Rant. Don’t
pretend you did.
Now that you have finally unlocked the
next area, you are now greeted with a lovely webpage with the iconic colors and
the words “Work With Us.” You see the variety of games in the background fade
ranging from Rachet to Geralt of Rivia. You know for certain, in your heart,
you are in the right place. You scroll down the page not really bothering to
read the stuff in between, until you see the magical phrase you were looking
for, Careers at GameRrant.
From here, it’s pretty well laid out. It
has the postings in box format, with very straight forward information on what
they are looking for, and what you need to do. Honestly it’s quite refreshing
to have such a wonderful character creation page. You can fairly quickly apply
to any of the positions that may strike your interest. And the number of
interests GameRant actually handles, is quite extensive and well put together.
They’ve been doing this for 16 years now and they show it clearly in the application
part. They know folks don’t want to spend an hour on application asking mundane
questions like, If a customer blah blah blah. They get to the point.
Which leads me to my point. Like the snow
level in RDR2 the first mission of trying to find the careers page could be
better. But what tutorial couldn’t? What GameRant lacks in initial job
searching, they more than make up for it with an outstanding transparency in
job postings, ease of application process, and a walkthrough that makes easy
difficulty feel fun.
I give GameRant’s Job Postings an EasyDoesIt 4 Hot-Wings out of 5, with blue cheese.
